I made a life changing decision to pursue massage therapy as my career almost 10 years ago. In that time I have learned that the body is an astounding machine that, if given some nudges (or a push or two) in the right direction, can do incredible things to heal itself. My job, as I see it, is to help give your body those nudges and pushes that will support its natural healing process.
I was very happy to find my position at Hanson Chiropractic. I have been able to hone my treatment skills for patients with whiplash, back pain, neck pain, migraines, and especially jaw pain. I also routinely work with tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, arthritis and bruising/inflammation issues.
My experience has allowed me to successfully create change using the following techniques: deep tissue, active/passive stretching, pin and stretch, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation
, lymphatic intraoral (muscles inside the mouth), and anterior neck work.
I had a personal interest in getting my Intraoral Certification. After experiencing 20 plus years of grinding and clenching teeth, and migraines from the constant pressure in my head, neck and shoulders, I discovered that this massage technique could actually change the patterns that had been quite literally ingrained in my head. Combined with consistent chiropractic care, I rarely get a headache or migraine related to my jaw tension, and I no longer have constant pain in my jaw and head. The world has been so much clearer without constant pain of some kind.
A few details about me:
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and in a previous life worked as a property manager. My free time is most often filled with hanging out with my toddler, taking my big dog to the dog park, and of course cleaning up after both of them!
