This is Dr. Glines with Hanson Chiropractic in Everett, Washington. Are your muscles always tight? Here are a few tricks you can use to relieve muscle tightness and muscle pain.
How To Relieve Muscle Tightness
Muscle Sticks are a great way to reduce pain in the body. Muscle sticks can help with tightness in the knees, wrists, elbow, and more! You can do this all from the convenience of your home, with a muscle stick.
What tends to happen to people when they have tightness in their quad (the front of the leg) is they put a lot of extra compression on the knees to be able to bend their knees, run and use them correctly. Then what happens is if you don’t take care of this problem, is it can wear your knee down and contribute to arthritis.
It’s really important for everything to be able to recover after a workout or daily life. Which makes the muscle stick a great tool to use. If you do not have a muscle stick, go into your kitchen and grab a rolling pin! The rolling pin is a very cheap and effective alternative to the muscle stick.
All you have to do is grab your rolling pin or muscle stick and put a little compression. You do not want to bruise or hurt yourself. You just want a little compression and squeezing on the muscle or targetted area. Go forward and back around 20 times. You can sweep down and sweep up, any method works as long as you are applying the correct amount of pressure.
When targetting the quad make sure you get the inside and outside of the leg and do not forget the hamstrings.
If you want to be healthy stay proactive and do things that improve your health!
